1997

Founded in partnership between Nonda Katsalidis and Charles Justin, Plus Studio was born. Our first project was the master plan and apartment towers for Melbourne’s NewQuay Precinct—only just the beginning.

1997

2007

From 4 to 40 – a decade in, our team had grown tenfold. The team got bigger, the projects bolder—and the momentum grew.

2011

We reached new ground, moving into our new St Kilda studio. A shift that signalled the start of our expansion beyond a single location.

2011

2014

Sydney opened its doors in one of the country’s most competitive markets. Bringing bold ideas and big visions to  a new city.

2015

Brisbane was established, alongside our first international studio in Christchurch—extending our reach and building local expertise across two new cities.

2015

2016

Auckland strengthened our presence across the Pacific. A new city, new opportunities, and the same commitment to quality design and considered delivery.

2018

Opened in Perth, our first studio on the West Coast and now part of Australia’s fastest-growing capital. Gold Coast followed soon after, bringing our distinct brand of design thinking to more cities across Australia.

2019

A new chapter in familiar places. Both Melbourne and Sydney moved into brand-new studios, reflecting our growth and evolving ambition.

2023

A major milestone—25 years of design excellence. With new studios in Geelong, Adelaide, and Hobart, we deepened our regional presence.

Celebrating 10 years of our Sydney studio. A decade of big ideas, great people and business wins. And even more excitement for what’s next.

Brisbane and Christchurch celebrate 10 years. We also continued to grow opening of our Canberra studio. We now operate across eleven locations—and we’re just getting started.

Sustainability drives every decision we make. It’s our creative way of not just designing places that look beautiful but are better for the world around us. We like to think of it as creativity with accountability.

We design with intention—and that includes the planet. From avoiding Red List ingredients to choosing materials that last, sustainability guides every detail. Our people are part of the process too. With in-house accredited professionals and training across Green Star, WELL, NaTHERS and NABERS, we make sure sustainable thinking is in every stage of our work.

Carbon  
Neutrality

We made it official in 2020—joining Architects Declare and committing to a low-impact, carbon neutral future. Since then, our studios across Auckland, Brisbane, Christchurch, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney have been certified under the NoCO2 Program.

Research  
+ Innovation

A carbon audit confirmed we’re a low-emission business—but we’re not standing still. Across our studios, we run workshops, share knowledge, and keep learning. Because building a better future means investing sustainable design.

Reconciliation

The land is our first blueprint— 
holding stories, culture, and connection.

At Plus Studio, we recognise the deep, enduring connection of Indigenous Peoples to their ancestral lands. We acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonisation on Indigenous communities and are committed to meaningful reconciliation.

In Australia, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country, whose deep relationship with this land is etched into its landscapes and passed through generations.

In Aotearoa, we recognise Māori as Tangata Whenua and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi: the bond with land, waters, and culture is woven through whakapapa and tikanga.

As designers of the built environment, we understand the influence our work has on land, culture, and community. We actively seek to engage with Indigenous perspectives, histories, and values, ensuring they are embedded in our projects and processes. We are dedicated to fostering a workplace that respects and amplifies Indigenous voices, building relationships with local First Nations communities and honouring their knowledge as we design on ancestral lands.
